North Carolina Sweepstakes Operators Backing Out to Prevent the Law

North Carolina authorities have already been battling with sweepstakes operators into the state for years.

North Carolina may not jump to a lot of people’s minds when they think of contentious US gambling issues. But the reality is, sweepstakes cafes happen an issue that is major numerous states, and nowhere has the battle over these establishments been more prominent than in North Carolina for the past eight years.

Now, the state appears to have won a major victory against what it says are unlawful gambling organizations, as six software providers have actually agreed to stop operating there.

That announcement originated from US Attorney Thomas Walker, who says it could be the outcome of a deal reached between his office and the six companies. Under that understanding, Walker won’t be prosecuting any of those organizations or the individuals that own them, provided they completely cease operations by July 1.

The six businesses combined operated in over 600 areas in vermont. They include White Sands tech LLC, Sierra Software LLC, TNT Software LLC, Digital show LLC, Figure 8 Technologies Inc., and HSV Entertainment LLC.

‘We hope this action will be a big step ahead in ensuring compliance with North Carolina’s gambling laws,’ read a declaration from Walker. ‘Our office is prepared to help the state in enforcing major violations associated with legislation.’

Workers Blame Icahn

But Icahn became a major figure in the protests. The protesters demonstrated near the Tropicana, which is owned by a group led by Icahn, and many see him as the threat that is true the advantages and wages provided by their current positions.
